North Liberty Library Writer’s Group

North Liberty Library – Meeting Room A 

Are you a writer who wants to connect with other writers? Novelists, poets, nonfiction writers, fanfiction writers, and any other kind of writer you can think of—come on down! We’ll talk together about our current writing projects and encourage each other. We’ll do writing exercises and eat snacks! 

This gathering is still new, so we need your input to make it the best it can be.

CLUB 24 is a program for adults and seniors to socialize over University of Iowa Athletics. February 10th we’ll be watching the live Iowa vs Nebraska women’s basketball game.

North Liberty Library – Meeting Room CD 

For our cozy February craft, we’ll be painting white candles with colored wax to create cute, colorful, and functional candles! 

Join us each week for a social gathering full of activities and friendly conversation – board games, crafts, puzzles, book discussions, and more! No registration required. You can choose which events you would like to attend and are not obligated to go weeks when the activity is not of interest to you.

For our Valentine’s Day lunch, Mexico Lindo is catering and are expected to bring tacos (last time they brought both beef and chicken options). After we eat, Kellee Forkenbrock of the NL Library is bringing Chair Yoga back! She will lead us in a short chair yoga session titled “Heart Centered Flow”. 

Registration for lunch is $5 and required for all who attend lunch. Participants must register before noon on Thursday, February 13th Call the Rec Center to register (319)626-5716 or go online to your RecDesk Account and register yourself.

Family & Friends Dementia Education Class

Iowa City Senior Center – Room 308 

Caring for a loved one with dementia can be challenging, especially when faced with the unknowns of the disease. This free class, presented by staff from Bickford Home Care, will help to offer insight and support to family and friends as they adjust to caregiving for a loved one with dementia. Register here. 

Iowa Rent Reimbursement 

If you’re a low-income Iowan aged 65 or older or a low-income disabled adult, you may be eligible for a partial reimbursement of your rent. You can now apply for reimbursement for 2024 and 202 claims using any device that connects to the internet. To be eligible you need to be 65 or older in the claim year or be at least 18 and totally disabled in the claim year. 

To be eligible for Rent Reimbursement for claim year 2024, your total annual household income must be less than $26,219 

To be eligible for Rent Reimbursement for claim year 2023, your total annual household income must be less that $25,328
