Let’s Eat! Vegetable Gardening Basics

Coralville Public Library – Discovery Corner
Learn about the basics of vegetable gardening with Scott Koepke.
From seed to harvest, this free class covers a comprehensive overview of what to consider when starting or expanding a typical home garden beyond flowers to food. It all begins with healthy soil. Then discuss mapping/placement, rotations, companion plantings, tools, watering, mulching, tilling options, thinning, weeding, organic methods, and season extensions. This is a fun and interactive class for both beginners and veterans.

It’s jigsaw puzzle week! Bring your friends, we’ll bring the puzzles for an hour of chatting and puzzling. And snacks! And coffee!
Join us each week for a social gathering full of activities and friendly conversation – board games, crafts, puzzles, book discussions, and more! No registration required. You can choose which events you would like to attend and are not obligated to go weeks when the activity is not of interest to you.

Takumi and his daughter Hana live in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a camping site near Takumi’s house, offering residents a comfortable escape to nature.
Coralville Community Clinic

Coralville Public Library – Lower Level
Stop by the Coralville Public Library for free health and social services. The UI Mobile Clinic will be in the lower level providing free basic health services on a drop-in basis.
Area social services agencies will be available to talk to.
Free health services include:
- Vitals: blood pressure, heart rate
- Labs: Cholesterol & diabetes (HbA1C) testing
- Exercise + nutrition: programming and education
- Prescription for medication refills
- Free eyeglasses for reading
- Visit with a doctor
Writers’ Group

Are you a writer who wants to connect with other writers? Novelists, poets, nonfiction writers, fanfiction writers, and any other kind of writer you can think of—come on down! We’ll talk together about our current writing projects and encourage each other. We’ll do writing exercises and eat snacks! North Liberty Spring Clean Up Day

7 – 11 AM
Public Works Facility – 620 Calvin Street
Spring Cleanup Day is held annually the last Saturday in April from 7 to 11 a.m. and is for residents of North Liberty only. Please be prepared to verify that you are a North Liberty resident with a water bill stub or driver’s license. North Liberty residents pay $.30 each month on their utility bill for this service.
Miscellaneous large items are to be brought to the Public Works Facility, 620 Calvin Street. (Go south on Front Street to Golf View Drive. Turn right and go to Calvin Street. Turn right to Public Works facility.)
The following items will be accepted:
* Furniture and other bulky items
* White goods (appliances)
* Brush and tree limbs
* Tires (limit eight per household)
* Batteries
* Metal and car parts
* Electronics
Dumpsters will be delivered on Saturday morning and each type of refuse will have a designated location.
Regular household trash, paint and toxic materials will not be accepted. A permanent drop-off site for paint and other hazardous materials has been created at the Iowa City landfill. Items may be dropped off by appointment each day.
