Meet the Remarkable Rigs and People Who Make the City Go on May 10

Meet the trucks and drivers and others that keep the city going at this showcase of public works vehicles. This year, in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the North Liberty Fire Department, the event will be held on Cherry Street between Front and Main streets.

The five Ws

  • Who: You! Free and no reservation needed. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • What: A showcase of the trucks and drivers that keep the city going.
  • Where: Cherry Street between Front and Main streets.
  • When: Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Why: Check out some cool trucks up close, tour the fire station and learn about what happens behind the scenes.

Who will be there

  • The folks who care for our parks, streets, storm sewers, drinking water and waste water will roll in with their big trucks and cool equipment.
  • Tour the North Liberty Fire Department’s headquarters and celebrate the department’s 80th year.
  • Additional first responders the North Liberty Police departments and Johnson County Ambulance.
  • Shive-Hattery with their survey equipment and commercial survey drone.
  • Collins Community Credit Union, MidWestOne Bank, South Slope Cooperative Communications and Urban Acres Real Estate will have games and giveaways.
  • The University of Iowa Health Care showing off emergency services, KGAN’s storm tracker and satellite truck and a Clear Creek Amana School District school bus.

How to get there

  • Cherry Street will be closed between Main and Front streets.
  • Parking is available along residential side streets or nearby public lots at City Hall and Penn Meadows.
  • It’s Bike Month, so skip the car and bike (or walk) to the event!

  • Restrooms will be available at Penn Meadows Park.
  • Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash and you clean up after them.
  • The use of tobacco, nicotine, vape and other electronic smoking devices are prohibited in North Liberty parks, trails and public recreation areas.
  • This event is outside.
