Welcome to Old Town Plaza
One year ago today, City Hall moved into its current building, 360 N. Main St., which features a spacious public plaza in the heart of Old Town. Earlier this month, the plaza was officially named.
The name “Old Town Plaza” pays tribute to the former Old Town Park, which once featured a clock and gazebo near the intersection of Cherry and Dubuque streets.
Dedicated in 2001, Old Town Park was often confused with neighboring Penn Meadows Park. That confusion grew after the intersection was reconstructed, resulting in the removal of the Old Town Park clock and relocation of the Penn Meadows Park sign. The area has since been rededicated to Penn Meadows Park.
Meanwhile, our Parks Department restored and modernized the original clock—which had stopped working sometime in the past decade—and proudly installed it in the plaza.
Old Town Plaza, 405 N. Front St, is now a vibrant public space, perfect for movie nights, live music or just gathering with ice cream after a ball game
