For our fifth Tuesday of the month, we’ll be doing, not just board games, but also puzzles! We’ll have snacks, coffee, and time to chat.
Join us each week for a social gathering full of activities and friendly conversation – board games, crafts, puzzles, book discussions, and more! No registration required. You can choose which events you would like to attend and are not obligated to go weeks when the activity is not of interest to you.

Join the Iowa Department of Insurance & Financial Services and AARP for a FREE educational Stop the Scammers event! Con artists target people aged 60 and older, swindling millions of Americans out of almost $28.3 billion each year. Don’t become another statistic and protect yourself from fraud.
Our team of fraud fighters has compiled real-world tips and tools that can help protect you and your loved ones. By arming yourself with knowledge of common fraud schemes, you can learn to avoid and report scams. Join us in this seminar to become an Iowa Fraud Fighter and take steps toward a safer future.

Frisbee Fest

Love playing catch, but don’t have a baseball glove? Join the University of Iowa Men’s and Womxn’s Ultimate Frisbee teams and players from the Iowa City community for an afternoon of fun in the sun learning different ways to catch and throw frisbees. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors; all are welcome at this intergenerational community event. A Matter of Balance
Mondays and Wednesdays, May 5 – June 2

A Matter of Balance uses a variety of activities to address the fear of falling and teach fall prevention strategies. Activities include group discussion, problem-solving, skill-building, assertiveness training, videos, and exercise training. Participants receive a workbook to use during the sessions and to keep as a reference when the class is over. Who should attend? Older adults concerned about falls, sustained falls in the past, restrict activities because of concerns about falling, interested in improving flexibility, balance, and strength and are age 60 or older, community-dwelling, and able to problem solve. What do participants learn? Participants achieve significant goals, gain confidence by learning to: View falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risk at home, exercise to increase strength and balance. Genealogy Interest Group

The Senior Center is launching an informal genealogy interest group, open to anyone who would like to share resources, tips, and tricks for discovering their family history and share personal family history stories with one another. John Archer has volunteered to facilitate this group. John has conducted extensive research into his family history and has made some surprising discoveries. He hopes this will be an opportunity to share both resources and stories, so bring a cup of coffee and join the conversation.
