Let Love Fly June 14 in Centennial Park
On Saturday, June 14, mega kites will soar above North Liberty’s Centennial Park. Come for awe-inspiring views, and information, activities and giveaways from organizations and sponsors for a community celebration of love. Here’s all you need to know.
The five Ws

- When: Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free programming to look forward to
Throughout the duration of the event, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Capture photos among the 50-to-200-foot-long kites.
- Visit Forever Green‘s mobile butterfly house with over 100 butterflies flying free. Step into the 10×20 enclosure and find yourself surrounded by butterflies. Experience the joy of interacting with live butterflies and learn about their different life stages.
- Take home a free kite, distributed by the North Liberty Youth Council, as supplies last.
- Engage with North Liberty Library and Recreation staff.
- Connect with local organizations:
- Visit with and receive giveaways from event sponsors:
What to bring
- Your camera!
- Lawn chairs and blankets to relax on while enjoying the sights.
- Your own kite to fly. If you don’t have one, 300 free kites will be handed out. Kites will also be available for purchase from Great American Kites.
- Your wallet to purchase lunch from food and treat trucks or a picnic to enjoy with family and friends. A friendly reminder: alcohol is not allowed in city parks.
- A water bottle.
- Your dog, if you’d like. They are welcome as long as they are on a leash and you clean up after them.
Food for purchase
- Marco’s will have grilled cheese and quesadillas.
- Hy-Vee will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs, brats and chips.
- Moo Moo’s will have ice cream treats.
- Picnics are also welcome and encouraged. A friendly reminder: alcohol is not allowed in city parks.
How to get there and where to park
- Centennial Park is located between Kansas Avenue and Jones Boulevard at 1565 St Andrews Drive.
- Please park on the park’s paved lots or along nearby residential streets.
- Skip the car and walk, bike or roller blade to the park!
Hy-Vee Center & Amphitheater is currently being constructed in Centennial Park, so the event will be focused on the south end of the great lawn.
