Samuel and Emma A. Ranshaw House
When the Samuel and Emma A. Ranshaw House was built in 1908, it was a local showplace featuring custom woodwork, ornamental glass, hot and cold plumbing and gas lighting. The Ranshaws were successful farmers in what was once a small farming town, and their home, designed and built by local architect and contractor BA Wickham, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The home, situated at 515 Community Drive, now serves as a gathering place for organizations serving residents in North Liberty’s growing community.
Restored in 2021, the Ranshaw House features gathering space and bathrooms on the first floor and four meeting spaces up a grand stair case on the second story. Tables and chairs area available on both levels. High-speed internet, courtesy of South Slope Cooperative Communications, is also available throughout the house.
The building serves as the home for the North Liberty Youth Council, Summer Lunch & Fun, the Ranshaw House Concert Series and other community programming.
The Ranshaw House is available to non-profit social service agencies to serve North Liberty clients and offer small programs, with priority given to Johnson County-based 501(c)(3) organizations who have received North Liberty grant funding, as space allows.

The City of North Liberty is pleased to offer the use of the historic Ranshaw House to various social services and not-for-profit organizations in service of area residents and requires agencies occupying space in the Ranshaw House to submit a waiver of liability and indemnification agreement.

Current Programs
Concert Series
Local musicians and community from 6 to 8 on Friday nights in June and July. Bring a picnic and meet your friends.
Senior Center Programs
The Iowa City Senior Center provides services and programs for older adults in North Liberty. Weekly programs are hosted on Wednesdays afternoons.
Summer Lunch & Fun
The program provides a free lunch and an activity for kids 0 to 18 years old every weekday during the summer months, no questions asked.
Teen Art & Music Workshops
United Action for Youth hosts free art and music workshops. Make art, record music or hang out with friends. Open to all junior high and high school students. (This program is currently on hiatus. Check back for updates.)
