Public Building, Playground Closures, Social Distancing Guidelines Extended Through End of April
To help support our local doctors, nurses, lab techs, researchers and other neighbors fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, protect its employees and the public, and be in line with Gov. Kim Reynolds’ proclamation, the City of North Liberty has extended the closing of all public buildings and playgrounds through April 30, 2020.
The public can work together by staying apart and limiting trips to just the essentials. Research shows soap destroys the virus that causes COVID-19, but it takes 20 seconds of hand washing to do its work. Slowing the spread of the disease will help buy time to treat patients, find treatments and, ultimately, develop a vaccine.
Per Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds’ declaration, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, swimming pools, salons, medical spas, barbershops, tattoo establishments, tanning facilities, massage therapy establishments, as well as other nonessential retail establishment and other operations face special requirements, and gatherings of more than 10 people must be canceled or postponed. The full order is available at governor.iowa.gov.
The city will maintain its essential services, including water, wastewater, refuse, fire and police, as well as continue to provide other services remotely. Closings, changes and other COVID-19 related updates and resources are posted at northlibertyiowa.org/coronavirus.
