Two Good Neighbor Meetings to be held this Thursday
March 28 — The City of North Liberty will host two Good Neighbor meetings this Thursday, March 31. The first is at Sleep Inn & Suites at 485 Madison Avenue from 5:30-7pm. The City may soon consider a rezoning and a subdivision plat for property in this area, and the public is invited to an open house-style meeting being held to explain the proposal. The property is located on the north side of Penn Court between Kansas Avenue and North Madison Avenue. The rezoning and subdivision plat being considered would allow multi-family development on the property that would all access Penn Court. A PDF version of this memo, including map are available at Notice of Good Neighbor Meeting mar 31 2011 at sleep inn.
The second Good Neighbor meeting will be held at City Hall, 3 Quail Creek Circle, from 7:00pm until 7:30pm. The City may consider a subdivision plat for the property. Again, the public is invited to this open-house style meeting. The property is located on the north side of Forevergreen Road between Jordan Street and Sara Court. The subdivision plat being considered divides the property into duplex lots consistent with the zoning already in place and with the existing housing east of the site on Sara Court (but not multi-family such as that existing on Burr Drive). A PDF version of this memo, including map are available at Notice of Good Neighbor Meeting mar 31 2011 at city hall.
These good neighbor meetings are being held to explain the potential rezoning and subdivision being considered by the owner and to gather any comments. No Planning Commission or City Council action has been taken, but is anticipated within the next several months. Note that these meetings are intended to notify the public early in the process and to help the developer understand neighborhood concerns. Other formal public meetings will be held by the Planning Commission and City Council if the development applications proceed.
Please feel free to drop into the good neighbor meetings any time within the period shown above. There will not be a formal meeting or presentation; instead, city staff and the developer will be available for informal open-house discussions with maps and information regarding the proposal.
For more information, please contact Dean Wheatley, City Planner at [email protected]. Copies of the PDFs listed above are being sent to property owners within 200 feet of the proposed developments.
