Street line painting to be completed on Penn Street this week

Crews are expected to finish painting lines for Penn Street’s additional lanes this week, representatives for the project’s general contractor, Metro Pavers, said today. The contractor is expected to have turn lanes open during peak traffic times, with occasional closures to complete work the work.

Additional work in the coming weeks will require Penn Street to remain open to one lane each direction into October, to give crews safe space to work, however. Remaining work includes soil and plant work in the medians, reinstalling signs throughout the work area, and additional traffic signal work, including installing another traffic signal as well as wiring signals and adding sensors and completing fiber optic installation.

Drivers are asked to use caution around the work site, allow extra travel time, and find alternative routes when possible. Details and updates on this and other North Liberty construction projects are available at northlibertyiowa.org/projects.
