Modernized Stormwater Utility Structure Implemented

The second month of new-look utility bills are heading to customers this week and reflect the the same wastewater, water, trash and recycling they are used to. Water rates have remained unchanged since July 2021, and wastewater rates have remained unchanged since  July 2019; these rates will remain unchanged through June 2025.

This bill will reflect the modernized fee structure for stormwater, approved by the City Council in 2023, to help fund critical projects to protect property and avoid local flooding.

These updated fees are used exclusively to pay for stormwater — primarily meaning rain — projects that can cause some real problems, including property damage like flooded basements. And well-managed stormwater doesn’t just keep water out of basements and roads; it also keeps pollution out of our creeks, streams, ponds and other waterways, protecting water quality in town and downstream, and prevents topsoil erosion and other environmental problems.
