Sunshine = Progress

The weather conditions look favorable over the next 10 days, which is badly needed in the construction world right now.
Concrete is being poured today on Penn Street.  As a result, the street is down to one-lane on the west end of the project.  Two-lane traffic will resume prior to the start of the end-of-the-workday rush.  Grading will continue on the east side of this project, followed by the concrete being placed.  After the widening is completed, traffic will be shifted to the south so the contractor can begin work on replacing existing panels of concrete on the north side.
Work continues on the south end of the Jones Boulevard project.  Grading will begin on St. Andrews Drive this week and continue into next.  Within a couple weeks, the contractors should have the concrete installed on this portion of St. Andrews.  Once the St. Andrews side of the project is wrapped up, crews will begin grading and concrete work on the south end of the Jones Boulevard project.
The Golfview Drive project is in full swing; however, because the project is tucked away from Highway 965, you probably have not noticed much activity.  Most of the utility work for this project is complete.  A crane will be brought in within the next few weeks so that work on the crossing of Muddy Creek can begin.
If you traveled North Front Street lately, you may have experienced a delay from truck traffic.  These trucks are bringing in fill for the Dubuque Street Trail Project.  Grading and topsoil work will continue for awhile before the concrete trail is ready to be installed.  The grading completed to date should give you a good idea of where the trail will eventually be.
The Highway 965 Project is close to a final completion date.  This week and next the seat walls and lettering will be completed and well as a couple retaining walls along the project.  My hope is that by the end of July the project will be closed out.
And finally, the Penn Meadows Parking Lot and Rain Gardens Project is substainally complete.  I was at the ballfield last night and the lot was packed!  There is still some landscape and sod work to be finished, but for all intents and purposes, the parking lot project is completed.
Thanks for following the blog.  Enjoy the nice weather and have a safe holiday weekend!
