Concrete updates on projects

I hope you enjoyed the Independence Day celebration and long weekend!
Tomorrow, the Community Drive entrance off of Penn Street will be closed for the day.  Please use the access from Highway 965 to get to the businesses on Community Drive.
Next week, Penn Street will be down to one lane while concrete is poured.  We were hoping to always have two lanes open, however, due to some soft soil, the concrete trucks need to be on the pavement when they pour the concrete.  So next week, not only will Penn Street be down to one lane, but there will be cement trucks in the closed lane dumping concrete.  This week, traffic on Penn Street should flow as usual, with the exception of Community Drive being closed.
We had a sewer line break slow us down on the Jones Boulevard project last week.  The sewer is now repaired.  The contractors are preparing Phase One of the project for concrete, which we hoped would start this week.  However, due to the sewer break last week, concrete on Jones Boulevard won’t be installed until next week.
Work progresses on the Golfview project.  The contractors have diverted Muddy Creek and are now trying to dewater the area so that the culvert can be placed in the creek bed.  It is an interesting process.
As part of the Dubuque Street Trail project, the sidewalk in front of Penn Elementary will close this week, until the trail is installed.  All work in front of the school will be completed before the first day of school.  Work continues on the north end of the trail (along Mehaffey Bridge Road) with fill being deposited in the right-of-ways.
Have  a great, short week and stay tuned for updates.
