Front Street and Mehaffey Bridge Road awaits final overlay

The project contractor, LL Pelling, is completing grading and topsoil in preparation for an initial grass seeding along the roadway, but the final overlay of asphalt is expected to be completed this month.
Weather pending, the final overlay is expected to start the week of Sept. 15, starting with the northbound lane, following the next day with the southbound lane. The new turn lane at Cedar Springs Drive would be paved a third day. When crews lay asphalt on the southbound lane, it will require closing the entrance to Cedar Springs for 30 minutes or so. Emergency vehicles would still have access to the development, though normal traffic should expect a delay.
Following the final overlay, the contractor estimates signs and pavement markings would be in place a week or two later.
