City Hall Reopened at 360 N Main St.

City Hall has moved from its previous, leased offices into the new, permanent building at 360 N. Main St. at 7 a.m.

The public can accesses the same services at the new location during the same business hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Departments located at the building include Administration, Billing and Finance, Building Inspection, Planning, Community Relations and Human Resources.

A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Embrace Winter. Registration is Open for Beat the Bitter Events

Forget hibernating and embrace winter. North Liberty’s Beat the Bitter is back with a week full of activities to get you out of the house for outdoor winter games and good cheer. Brighten up the bleakest days of the year in the tundra of North Liberty, Iowa, Jan. 25 through Feb. 1, 2020. Registration is open at beatthebitter.com.

The festival offers events for all ages, for a week full of winter cheer for everyone. Highlights include the Igloo Jam concert, the Snuggie Crawl, free family fun at Fire & Ice, the 5K-ish Obstacle Run and kickball, curling and broomball tournaments.

Some of the Beat the Bitter fun is reserved just for adults, and 21+ only events are planned on back to back Saturdays. On Jan. 25, ticket holders can party with The Pork Tornadoes at the Igloo Jam presented by GreenState Credit Union. On Feb. 1, a sea of 450 sleeved blankets will overtake North Liberty nightlife for the Snuggie Crawl presented by Collins Community Credit Union. Registration includes an embroidered Beat the Bitter Snuggie, transportation between stops, and access to specials and activities. Tickets to the Igloo Jam and the Snuggie Crawl are limited and are expected to sell quickly. Tickets are available now at beatthebitter.com.

Moving to a Sunday in 2020, Fire & Ice presented by GEICO Careers will be on Jan. 26 with free family fun in Penn Meadows Park beginning at 3 p.m. Horse-drawn carriage rides, ice carving, fire performances, ice skating and more will be offered all afternoon, culminating in a spectacular winter firework show at 7 p.m.

Winter Games presented by Scheels gets folks moving–even in snow pants. The annual 5K-ish Obstacle Run will challenge runners to some dozen obstacles around Penn Meadows Park on Sunday, Jan. 26, before joining spectators for Fire & Ice activities. On Saturday, Feb. 1, teams will descend on the park for the KICK Winter in the SnowBALL kickball tournament and curling and broomball tournaments for their chance to earn championship titles. Participants are encouraged to register at beatthebitter.com before Jan. 1 to take advantage of early-bird pricing.

The week will be filled with affiliated offerings organized by local businesses, too. Affiliated events will be announced in December. Past years’ affiliated events include a luau party, beer pairing dinner, speakers, ceramics and cookie decorating classes, a daddy-daughter prom, a hearty chili dinner, fat tire bike rides, free comedy shows and other active fun programs.
