Masks required in city’s buildings

The City of North Liberty now requires masks in its public, indoor spaces. These spaces include the Community Center, City Hall and Council Chambers. This requirement will be in effect while Johnson County sees substantial and high levels of community coronavirus transmission.

This policy, in line with public health guidance from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Johnson County Public Health, is targeted to help protect the community from the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus that causes COVID-19, which is responsible for increasing hospitalizations, including among children.

While the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant is concerning, vaccines provide excellent protection against serious illness and help protect others who are vulnerable to the disease. The best way to protect yourself, your family and your community from COVID-19 is to get a free vaccination, available for those 12 and older at local pharmacies and hospitals. Visit vaccinate.iowa.gov to find a site for a free, safe and effective vaccination convenient for you.

The city’s approach to its public health policies are a dial, not a switch, as we provide targeted mitigation in line with guidance from our public health partners. As guidance and conditions change, we will update our policies.

COVID event mitigations

While we are looking forward to a fun summer, everyone is easing out of the pandemic at their own pace. Events on the Summer Slate have adopted the City of North Liberty’s “masked until you’re vaxxed” policy for staff and attendees.

In line with public health guidance, those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are no longer expected to wear a mask when attending Summer Slate events. Organizers ask those who have yet to be fully vaccinated to still wear a mask. COVID-19 vaccines are free and currently available to anyone 12 years or older at local pharmacies and hospitals. As always, attendees should stay home if anyone in the household is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

Accessibility

We’re committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for this event for individuals with disabilities.

Also, free, but limited, transportation assistance between parks is available. Riders must provide any necessary car seats and must have at least one person in their party who 16 years or older.

For accommodations or transportation assistance, please reach out to [email protected] or call (319) 626-5726 by Monday, Aug. 23.
