Penn Meadows Park North Parking Lot to Close After Independence Day

Beginning July 5, Penn Meadows Park’s north parking lot off Penn Street will close for reconstruction and expansion. Substantial completion is expected in mid-November with seeding in spring 2024. The project will add a second entrance, increase parking for cars to 252 stalls, increase and realign trail connections for people on bikes and on foot, improve stormwater drainage among other improvements.

The work will require the closure of a small section of Penn Street to allow for sewer upgrades. During the work, the park’s other amenities — including ball fields, tennis and pickleball courts, splashpad and playground, and shelters — will remain open. Parking is available on the the south side of the park, accessible from the intersection of Dubuque and Cherry streets.
