Sounds like a snowy forecast this winter! Get outside and enjoy this traditional winter activity. Build a snowman in your yard or in a city park between Dec. 1 and Feb. 28. Take photos of your creation; include name, contact information and location of snowman. Submit to Jason at the NLRC. Photos will be displayed in the community center and will be judged by recreation staff with winning family receiving a prize!
Boy Scout Chili Supper
Help support North Liberty Boy Scout Troop 216’s 34th Annual all-you-can-eat chili supper. Meat and vegetarian chili served with all the fixings. Desserts, including homemade dutch oven treats made by the scouts are also included.

Chicago Auto Show
Here’s your chance to attend the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Cost includes transportation on a chartered bus and entrance to the motor show. We will not be stopping on our way to or on the return trip from Chicago. Food and drink will be allowed on the bus, alcohol NOT permitted.

Time: Depart from NLRC at 5:30AM and arrive at McCormick Place around 10AM. Report back to the bus no later than 3PM. Back to North Liberty approx. 7:30PM

North Central Jr. High Ski Trip
The NLRC is planning a ski trip to Sundown Mountain for students of North Central Jr. High. Fee includes lift ticket, ski rental, lesson and bus ride. Students who own snowboard or ski equipment may bring it for personal use. Permission slips must be filled out upon sign up and brought to the NLRC, not the school. Slips are located at the NLRC and will be sent out through the school backpack program. Food and drink not included and must be purchased by each individual, so bring extra cash.

NL Optimist Club Pancake Breakfast
Help support your local North Liberty Optimist Club in attending their annual fundraising event that includes pancakes, eggs and sausage.

Spring Vendor Fair
The NLRC is offering local vendors, crafters, and sellers the opportunity to rent a spot and is open to anyone who wishes to set up a booth and sell goods to the public. We attempt to keep this as close to a non-competing event as possible. Vendors are not be allowed to leave the event early and please respect other vendors and do close up shop prior to the finish. Vendors must supply own table(s), but chairs are provided by NLRC. Additional spots may be purchased if more space is needed. Electricity is available upon request as well.

North Liberty Lions Club Burrito Breakfast
North Liberty Lions Club will host a burrito breakfast from 8-11AM surrounding the vendor fair. Tickets available from North Liberty Lions Club members, at the North Liberty Community Library or at the door. Cost per ticket is $5 which includes two sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast burritos and coffee, juice, or milk. These burritos will have you ROARING for more!

Plots are available in North Liberty on a first-come, first serve basis. Plots located at the Meade Barn Property, East of Penn Meadows Sports Complex. Plot size will be 10 by 30 feet. A hydrant is available for water. No hose hook-ups are allowed. Individuals need to bring buckets to transport water to plot.
Session: Planting may begin May 1. Cleared by Nov 1.

Easter Egg Hunt
The North Liberty Optimist Club and the NLRC co-sponsor the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Candy is spread outside on the ground if nice weather or if inclement weather, event is moved inside to both gymnasiums. Don’t be late, the candy vanishes in minutes!

Senior citizens, are you looking for a new social outlet, a reasonable meal and locale to make friends? Join other North Liberty senior citizens for an hour of social activity at 11 a.m., followed by a meal from the Iowa City Senior Center at noon. Meals are $5 each and need to be reserved by calling the North Liberty Recreation Center (319) 626-5716 by 4:30 p.m. the Thursday prior to each dining date.
Outdoor & Nature Education (O.N.E.) Packs
Exploring the outdoors continues! Ten backpacks are available to get children/families involved in the outdoors. Supported by the Iowa DNR Resource Enhancement and Protection Conservation Education Program (Grant #11-11) Packs are filled with fun & educational activities. Themes include: Birds, Animals of Iowa, Trees, Insects, Outdoor Skills, Aquatic Habitats, Creatures of the Night, Wildflowers & Prairies, Rocks & Minerals, and the Wild Turkey.
Deposit/Registration: Packs rental forms must be completed and a credit card number will be taken for a deposit. Any lost or broken items will be charged to the credit card on file.
Packs can be checked out for two weeks at a time.
Get the cameras out! Everyone is encouraged to take photos throughout the community and submit their favorite five into our contest! Photo submission and registration required by November 1. Entries are posted at the NLRC and judged on November 1. Winner to receive a $25 gift certificate to the NLRC and photo will be featured in an upcoming brochure.
